Director Grady Hall Creates an Endless Summer for Target
MTh director Grady Hall playfully captures the essence of the Summer season in two colorful and energetic spots for Target. Each beach-centric commercial features upbeat music and plenty of action that originates from a seemingly bottomless changing tent set on an idyllic beach. The tent's bold red and white stripes recall Target's notable bull's-eye logo, with canvas door flaps that constantly open to reveal a vibrant, never-ending assortment of all the necessary materials for perfect summer celebrations. Men, women, and children happily frolic on the beach in a playful mix of carefully choreographed summer fun, free-form activities, and bigger moments of vfx sleight-of-hand -- all emanating from the tent. The procession becomes a full-motion fashion layout of Target's summertime items including beach apparel, chairs, umbrellas, slip-n-slides, a canoe, badminton, water guns, sparklers and more. The two spots were shot on a large stage with 60 tons of sand, 150 wardrobe changes, and countless product options, with post-production adding the serene ocean views and bright blue sky backgrounds -- as well as the campaign's numerous magical moments. Final footage was then sped up, resulting in two spirited and brightly colored :30 spots that showcase the light-hearted joys of summer.
